Commercial Concrete Grinding & Slab Preparation
Diamond grinding with dust control, shot blasting for large areas, and removal of failing coatings and glues — so the concrete underneath is sound, flat and ready for what goes on top of it. Based in Sanford and serving Central Florida.
Tell us about your slab
Tell us what you need and how to reach you. We'll follow up to discuss the project and next steps — give us the basics and we'll take it from there.
Grinding is one part of getting a slab ready
Which method fits depends on what is on the concrete and what is going on it. Describe the slab in the form and we will confirm the scope in the estimate.
-
Diamond grinding
Diamond tooling profiles bare concrete, smooths high spots and removes surface contaminants to create the surface profile a coating needs.
-
Shot blasting
Steel-shot blasting profiles large open areas quickly and evenly, suited to big industrial floors and high-build systems.
-
Coating, glue & mastic removal
Failing coatings, glues and mastics are removed to reach a sound, coatable surface.
-
Crack & joint repair
Cracks, spalls and damaged control joints are repaired so they do not telegraph through the finished floor.
-
Moisture assessment
When appropriate we evaluate slab moisture and recommend a moisture mitigation system before anything is coated over it.
-
Floor restoration
Worn or damaged floors can be repaired and re-coated to bring them back into service.
From the condition of the slab to a finished surface
Tell us what is on the floor today and what you want on it afterward; the prep method follows from that.
-
Describe the slab
Approximate area, what covers the concrete now (bare, painted, coated, glued), any known cracks or moisture, and what flooring or coating is going over it.
-
Choose the prep method
Diamond grinding, shot blasting or removal work — sometimes a combination — depending on the existing surface and the profile required.
-
Repair what the grind reveals
Cracks, spalls and joints are repaired and the slab is checked for moisture before the next step.
-
Hand off to the finished system
If SFS is installing the floor, the prepared slab goes straight into the coating system. Otherwise we confirm what the next trade needs from the surface.

Concrete grinding & slab prep: common questions
Surface preparation is the foundation of every successful flooring installation. We use professional diamond grinding equipment to achieve the proper Concrete Surface Profile (CSP), helping coatings bond correctly and improving long-term performance.
Yes. We repair cracks, spalls, surface imperfections, and deteriorated concrete before installing the flooring system to create a sound substrate.
Yes. When appropriate, we evaluate concrete moisture conditions and recommend moisture mitigation systems when needed to help reduce the risk of coating failures caused by excessive moisture.
Most projects are completed in 2–5 days. Larger commercial and industrial projects may require additional time depending on the size, surface condition, repairs, and curing requirements.
We'll provide a project checklist before work begins. In general, we ask that the work area be cleared of equipment and movable items to help ensure an efficient installation.
